Queensland teams have started well on the first day of the Elite Eight Series at the 2013 X-Blades National Touch League.

Queensland Chiefs currently lead the women’s divisions following two very strong wins, one of which was against the defending premiers New South Wales Mets.

The Queensland Country Outlaws made their announcement at the tournament by dominating the men’s opens defending champions NSW Scorpions, 10-5.

With a wealth of Australian representatives at their disposal, the Outlaws showed they were a team to take seriously.

However, one team that flexed their muscles was the Alliance.

The Alliance had a big first round win over NSW Rebels, 10-1.

They will soon know where they compare with other teams in their division as they take on the Scorpions in round two.

The women’s division have two teams undefeated after the first two rounds – the Chiefs and Scorpions.

The Chiefs dominated NSW Country Mavericks 10-3 in their opening game and backed it up with a 4-1 victory over the Mets.

The Scorpions were 4-2 winners over the Outlaws in round one and got the cash in the second round against the Alliance, 9-6.

NSW Mets captain Louise Winchester said her team would have to work harder in the remaining games.

“Every team are tough, there are no easy games that’s why it is a great competition,” the Australian women’s skipper said.
